Participants

Entrants to the Frisian Solar Challenge 2010 can participate in two different classes; Challenge-Class and the Top- Class. The solar cell panels in the Challenge-Class are loaned to us by our sponsor The Sun Factory. This prevents the need for high capital outlay, which might be an obstacle for participation.

The Challenge-Class is split up in two classes: the A-Class and the B-Class.
The A-Class  is manned by a single skipper, while the B-Class vessels are manned by two persons. Participants in the Top- Class are free to determine the types of solar panels to be used and the size of the onboard crew.

Overview of the steps

It is not simply possible to participate, as our technical team must assess all the participating teams in advance at various stages of the building process. We will judge the thoroughness of the plans, as well as the compatibility of the design and the technical systems. Our technical committee will also inspect the completed vessel immediately prior to the race. Once all the participating teams have gone through all of the above-mentioned steps, the real race can finally begin!
