The team Copacabana from Brasil joined the Frisian Solar Challinge in 2008. After participating in the Solar Challenge the team got the idea to organize their own solar boat race in Brasil: Desafio Solar Brasil. Members of the Brazilian team are from a lab of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro called Pólo Náutico.
